Yesterday while eating breakfast, I was telling Vince where all the food came from.

The eggs came from a friend less than a mile away. The potatoes came from the garden. The sausage came from a farmer/butcher a few miles away. I milled soft white wheat for the biscuits. I love eating this way.

Last night, we had guacamole from freeze dried avocado. Refried beans from freeze dried beans and carnitas from a jar that I canned last year.
This is one of the reasons I can – not only to preserve food but to have good food ready to heat and eat. It’s so easy to open a jar, heat it up and have a quality meal ready in just a few minutes.
